Broken Bones

Both bones broken
The call came to school at 3:57pm on Monday.  We met the ambulance at the hospital. After 7 x-rays and a fantastic team putting him back together we got to take him home.  Thank you Dr. Umer, Janelle and Joan.  He is in a fair amount of pain but we are looking forward to this long weekend to watch movies, make some crafts and cuddle.  We'll find out next week if the break is healing well or if surgery is required.

A Day to Remember

Thank you.  That is my message of the day.

We had the Remembrance Day ceremony at school today.  Mark did a beautiful introduction of just how wars and peacekeeping missions have been a part of the lives of people at our school.  We used Adam Taggart's video, the new 2009 version, to create a sense of duty and understanding to those who watched it.  I spoke about Grandpa and had a student, Eric, read one of Grandpa's letters.

It was a perfect ceremony.  Mom, Dad and Kelly were able to attend, along with Eric's Mom and Grandma.  We were so blessed to have so many people tell us afterwards that they were moved by the images and the words.  Even though I did break down at the podium, the 400+ people in the caf could not have been more quiet and respectful throughout the ceremony.

Thank you Eric. Thank you Honey Baby.

Thank you Grandpa.

Ronald Is in the HOUSE!

A quick supper tonight at the Big M proved to be well worth the drive to Acton.  To kick off the Olympic spirit, Ronald McDonald came home to Acton.  Media coverage was plentiful, as were the smiles on all the kids' faces.  Check out our Olympic lover!

One week to feeling better

Liam has been so sick this week, and thanks to Nana who stayed with him all week, he is on the mend! He had a huge allergic reaction to his medicine on Wednesday, but Nana spotted it quickly, and got him some new meds. No H1N1 flu shot for us yet, but we should be able to get it by early December.
It did snow for the first time this week. The snow did not stick to the ground but for a moment I was excited that we could be skiing in a few weeks!
Today we were all well enough to join Uncle Colin, Auntie Kelly, Josh and Kyle for breakfast in Milton. Liam and I headed off with Auntie Kelly and Josh afterwards to Build-a-Bear in Kitchener. I would like to introduce to you our newest bear (actually it is a snowman!) FROSTY!
We are currently sitting together at the kitchen table; Liam is doing his science project, I'm blogging, and Daddy is correcting my report cards. Much to daddy's dismay, Liam's Christmas tree is going up tonight because Frosty needs to feel at home! (any excuse to turn on sparkly lights and the carols!)
Enjoy the week!

Hallowe'en was GREAT!

The Hitherfield dance and school on Friday night was a huge success. Nana took Liam to boogie the night away while Mark and I were at a conference in Toronto. Liam happily came home sweaty and wearing his prize ... green devil horns!
What a night we had trick or treating last night. Harry Potter was very visible around our Riverwalk neighbourhood. So many people called him by name and commented on how great he looked! Extra treats were given by more than a few houses as they commented that his was the best costume of the night!
Today we hung out at home, did homework and actually worked in the garden! I am thankful, once again, that our spot of land we call a garden is not very big. Mark did, however, garden a little more enthusiastically then I was hoping for ... a third of our weeping cyprus was cut off in front of our house!
